Burlington City High School Students Support “Hutt for a Mutt”
Responding to a request by the Burlington County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the students of Burlington City High School have built the first doghouse in the area for the “Hutt for a Mutt” program. This program was conceived by New Jersey SPCA member Sergeant Tom Yanisko and his wife Agent Dawn Yanisko. Their objective is to establish a partnership between schools and the SPCA with the goal of providing doghouses for the pets of owners who are struggling in this difficult economic environment. The students get to apply their skill and gain experience while contributing to a worthy project.
Sy Goldberg, President and Chief Officer of the Burlington County SPCA, was excited to learn of this Program. “I thought this was a great idea and directed our membership to give their full support”. He added, “ On behalf of the Burlington County SPCA and the families and pets who will benefit from their efforts, I want to thank Principal Jenkins, Mr. Morrissey, Nora Kitz, and the students of Burlington City High School.
Any Burlington County School interested in participating in this program can contact Jim Apgar or Joe McGinty at japgar@burlco.org or jmcginty@burlco.org.
